Happy New Year everyone!
My apologies for not writing for the past few weeks! The holidays got crazy, I had visitors from the UK and then I got sick. What can I say other than life sometimes gets in the way.
Then to top it off I found out I was the victim of bank fraud and someone had managed to forge checks and my signature and steal $6,000 from one of my bank accounts. It’s not even about the money because the bank puts it back however it is scary to think it’s that simple! Over a period of 24 hours they went to an out of area branch and cashed six separate checks amounting to nearly $6,000.
I found out quite by accident. A bill I had paid didn’t go through and the bank wrote and told me there wasn’t enough money in the account. I went online and checked and lo and behold there it was, or rather there it wasn’t. I usually check my accounts online at least twice weekly however with the holidays, guests and getting sick I didn’t. I learned a huge lesson and found out from the bank that every bank has this challenge 2-3 times a day.
Whether in business or personally please keep a close watch on your bank accounts. Apparently it’s easier than we might think!
I also learned that online bill pay according to my bank is less safe than paying bills by check!
Anyway I just wanted to share this with you in the hope that you will check your accounts regularly so that this doesn’t happen to you.
‘Til Next Time
Joy and Blessings
